What a Self-Drive Car in Nagpur Costs, and Which One to Book

By Manjot Kaur · 6 November 2026

Car rental in Nagpur on Hire N Ride starts at Rs 1,620 a day for a hatchback, with 200 km included and a Rs 5,000 refundable deposit on the listings we checked on 6 November 2026. That is the practical number most visitors and locals need before they open a safari or weekend guide: what you pay, what you must carry, and which car fits a city day versus a park run.

This post is the booking guide. It does not rewrite our existing Nagpur route pieces on Tadoba, Pench, Chikhaldara or Sevagram. Those remain the place for gates, permits and overnight plans. Use the tables below, then see self-drive cars in Nagpur to lock a date.

Key takeaways

  • Rates (6 Nov 2026): about Rs 1,620 to Rs 4,759 a day across available cars on the Nagpur page.
  • Kilometres: 200 km a day included on every listing we checked; extra km is charged per the vehicle page (examples: Alto Rs 8/km, Swift or Brezza Rs 11/km, Ertiga, Carens, Creta or Thar Rs 12/km).
  • Deposit: Rs 5,000 refundable on all those listings.
  • Documents: valid four-wheeler licence at least one year old; minimum age 21; carry a government ID to pickup.
  • Fuel: not included; refuel yourself.
  • Delivery: home delivery is common within roughly 5 to 20 km; confirm on each listing.

Why this guide is about booking, not another day-trip list

Hire N Ride already has dedicated Nagpur drives: a Tadoba Kolara and Moharli safari start, a Pench Turia morning slot, a Chikhaldara weekend, a Sevagram and Paunar day, and a wider Maharashtra self-drive overview from Mumbai and Nagpur. Those posts answer where to go. This one answers how the rental itself works in Nagpur so you do not under-book kilometres or pick a seven-seater for a solo airport run.

Nagpur sits at the centre of India's road map for a reason. Zero Mile, the railway junction and the growing metro make short city hops easy, while national and state highways fan out toward Vidarbha's parks. A self-drive car is useful for both, but the cost maths is different.

Prices below come from the public Nagpur car rental page on 6 November 2026. They are for one day, include 200 km, and show a Rs 5,000 security deposit. Extra-kilometre charges are taken from the individual vehicle pages the same day. Always re-check before you pay; hosts can change rates and availability.

A second Baleno listing also appeared on the city page at Rs 2,966; treat that as a separate host unit of the same model family. Roadside assistance showed on several cards, typically up to about 50 km from the host's base.

Documents, age and deposit: what hosts actually check

Hire N Ride's Nagpur vehicle pages state the eligibility rules clearly: a valid four-wheeler driving licence that is at least one year old, and a minimum age of 21. That matches how most Indian self-drive marketplaces operate. Bring the physical licence to pickup. A government photo ID such as Aadhaar or a passport speeds verification if the host asks for a second document.

For licence status and related transport services in Maharashtra, the state transport department site at transport.maharashtra.gov.in and the national Parivahan portal are the authoritative places to check renewals and driving-licence details. Do that before travel day if your licence is close to expiry.

The security deposit on every Nagpur car we opened was Rs 5,000. It is refundable and separate from the rental fare. Ask, in writing in the chat if you can, when the host will release it after a clean return. Photograph the car on all four sides and the odometer at handover and return so scratch disputes are easier to settle.

Kilometre maths: city day versus park weekend

Two hundred kilometres a day sounds large until you aim the car at a tiger reserve. Use these planning figures; they are rounded from our earlier Nagpur route posts and typical city loops, not a promise of exact odometer readings.

PlanApprox. distanceDays to bookNotes
Airport pickup, hotel, Futala evening, return40–70 km1Well inside 200 km; hatchback is enough
City workday: Civil Lines, Sitabuldi, Ambazari30–80 km1Watch parking near markets; start with a full tank
Sevagram and Paunar day returnabout 150–180 km round1Fits one day if you leave early; see our Sevagram guide
Pench Turia morning safariabout 85 km each way2Outbound alone uses most of 200 km; overnight near the gate is cleaner
Tadoba Kolara or Moharli safariabout 140 km each way2–3Do not try a same-day return around a core safari slot
Chikhaldara weekendabout 230 km each way2–3Extra km charges add up fast on a one-day booking

Example: a Thar at Rs 4,759 with Rs 12 per extra km, driven 280 km in a single calendar day, would add roughly 80 × 12 = Rs 960 beyond the included 200 km, before fuel. Spreading the same trip over two days often costs less overall and is safer after a dawn safari. For the park itineraries themselves, open the Tadoba, Pench or Chikhaldara posts linked above rather than packing permits into this page.

Which car to book in Nagpur

City and airport. Choose the Alto, Swift or Baleno if you are one or two people, mostly on paved roads, and want the lowest day rate. The Dzire adds a proper boot for airport luggage. Sitabuldi and Dharampeth parking is easier in a short hatchback than in a Thar.

Family of five to seven. The Ertiga at Rs 2,889 and the Carens at Rs 3,240 are the practical middle. The Ertiga listing shows petrol/CNG, which can matter on a multi-day Vidarbha loop if you plan CNG top-ups where stations exist. Confirm the fuel mode on the unit you book.

Park approaches and rough last miles. A Creta or Thar costs more per day but gives clearance and diesel range. You still leave your rental outside the core safari zone and board a park gypsy where rules require it; the SUV is for the highway and village roads to the gate, not for driving inside the core.

Automatics. The Nagpur cards we checked on 6 November 2026 were labelled manual, including a Dzire VXI AGS unit that still showed transmission as manual in the public card data. If you need a true automatic, filter on the live page or message the host before you pay.

Home delivery, fuel and how pickup usually works

Most Nagpur listings offer home delivery. Delivery radius on the cards we saw ranged from about 5 km up to 20 km for some hosts. The Brezza listing did not show home delivery on 6 November 2026, which is a reminder to read the vehicle card instead of assuming every car comes to your gate. Roadside assistance, where shown, was listed around a 50 km radius.

Fuel is never part of the Hire N Ride day rate on these pages. Start with whatever fuel the host provides, keep receipts if you and the host agreed a refill rule, and return the car as the listing describes. For a city day, one mid-size tank refill is usually enough; for Tadoba or Chikhaldara, fill up in Nagpur before you leave.

Pickup itself is simple: book on the app or website, chat with the host, verify the licence, walk around the car, note existing marks, and leave. If you want to earn from a spare car in Nagpur instead of renting one, list your vehicle on Hire N Ride; the platform is built as a marketplace where hosts keep the car and the reviews.

How Hire N Ride differs from a traditional Nagpur cab

A self-drive booking means you are the driver. You pay for the car by the day, manage fuel, and return it to the host. That is different from a chauffeur cab charged by the hour or by outstation slabs. It is also different from owning the compliance burden alone: Hire N Ride is an Airbnb-style vehicle marketplace, so hosts build reviews while the platform helps with the operational reminders around surveys, GPS, insurance, PUC, RC and servicing that keep a listed car road-legal.

For travellers flying into Nagpur for a wedding, a corporate stay or a park weekend, that usually means: book the car for the days you will actually drive, choose delivery if your hotel is inside the host radius, and keep safari permits on a separate checklist. For locals who need a second car for relatives visiting, a one- or two-day Alto or Swift is often enough.

Checklist before you pay

  • Confirm the live day rate, deposit and included kilometres on the exact unit.
  • Read the extra-km rate on the vehicle page.
  • Check home delivery radius if you do not want to travel to the host.
  • Pack your physical four-wheeler licence and a government ID.
  • Decide city hatchback versus family MPV versus diesel SUV using the table above.
  • If you are heading to Tadoba, Pench or Chikhaldara, open those guides and book enough days so you are not buying expensive extra kilometres on a rushed one-day return.

When the checklist is done, book a self-drive car in Nagpur. If you own a car that sits idle on weekdays, become a host and list it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does car rental in Nagpur cost on Hire N Ride?

On 6 November 2026 the Nagpur car page listed daily rates from Rs 1,620 for a Maruti Alto K10 up to Rs 4,759 for a Mahindra Thar. Mid-size options such as the Swift, Brezza, Baleno, Dzire, Sonet and Ertiga sat between about Rs 2,381 and Rs 2,889. Prices change with demand, so check the live listing before you pay.

What documents do I need for self-drive car rental in Nagpur?

You need a valid four-wheeler driving licence that is at least one year old, and you must be 21 or older. Carry a government ID such as Aadhaar or passport for verification at pickup. Digital copies on your phone help as a backup, but hosts usually want to see the physical licence.

How many kilometres are included each day?

Nagpur listings we checked on 6 November 2026 include 200 km a day. City loops around Futala, Ambazari, Sitabuldi and the airport usually stay well under that. A return drive toward Pench or Tadoba uses most of a day's allowance on the outbound leg alone, so book enough days for safari weekends.

What is the security deposit for a self-drive car in Nagpur?

Every Nagpur car we checked on 6 November 2026 showed a refundable security deposit of Rs 5,000. The deposit is separate from the daily rental. Ask the host at handover when it will be released after you return the car in the agreed condition.

Is fuel included in Nagpur car rental?

No. Fuel is not included. Cars come with limited fuel; you refuel during the trip and typically return the car at a similar level unless the listing says otherwise. Budget petrol or diesel on top of the daily rate.

Which car should I book for Nagpur city driving?

For airport transfers, markets and lake loops, a hatchback such as the Alto, Swift or Baleno is enough and cheaper per day. Book an Ertiga or Carens if you have six or seven people and luggage. Keep the Thar or Creta for rough park approaches or if you simply prefer a higher seating position.

Does Hire N Ride offer home delivery in Nagpur?

Most Nagpur cars we checked offer home delivery within about 5 to 20 km of the host, depending on the listing. The Brezza listing on 6 November 2026 did not show home delivery. Confirm the delivery radius on the vehicle page when you book.
