Fee, Deposit, Cancellation & Refund Policy

The price breakdown shown at checkout for your booking takes priority over the examples in this policy.

1. What you pay (Riders)

Before you pay, the checkout screen shows the full price, with each component listed separately. There are no hidden charges.

2. Security deposit

The deposit depends on the vehicle: its engine size, its condition, and how premium it is. The amount shown on the booking is the deposit for that trip.

2.1 The deposit is collected through our payment partner, either as a pre-authorisation block or a charge.

2.2 The Host may claim a deduction for damage, a fuel shortfall, cleaning, a lost key or accessory, driving fines from the trip, extra kilometres, and late return fees. The claim must include photo or document evidence. You can dispute it in the app.

2.3 If you dispute a deduction, Hire N Ride decides it within 7 days using the handover and return records. If there is no claim, the refund is initiated within 24 hours of return. Money usually reaches you in 3–4 business days (two-wheelers) or 5–7 business days (four-wheelers), depending on your bank. If a claim is raised, the undisputed balance is refunded straight away, and the rest is released when the claim is decided.

2.4 If a challan arrives later (up to 90 days), it may be charged to your payment method or recovered from you after notice.

3. Other charges

Late return	After a 30-minute grace period, the hourly rental rate for each extra hour or part of an hour, capped at one day's rental
Extra kilometres	The hourly rental rate divided by 10, per kilometre past the limit on the booking. Never less than ₹5 and never more than ₹15 per kilometre
Trip extension	1.2 times the hourly rental rate for the extra time
Fuel	Return the vehicle with the fuel level recorded at handover. If it is short, the Host may deduct that from the security deposit
Cleaning	The Host may deduct the cleaning cost from the security deposit
Lost key	The Host may deduct the cost from the security deposit

4. Cancellations by Riders

When you cancel	Refund of rental
10 days or more before the start	90%. The platform fee is not refunded
5 days or more, and less than 10 days, before the start	50%. The platform fee is not refunded
6 hours or more, and less than 5 days, before the start	30%. The platform fee is not refunded
Less than 6 hours before the start, or after the start time	0%

The deposit is always refunded in full on cancellation.

5. Cancellations by Hosts

If a Host cancels a confirmed booking, you get a 100% refund, including the platform fee, and we will try to find you an alternative vehicle. The Host does not keep the rental.

If Hire N Ride cancels a confirmed booking for a reason other than your breach of these terms, you get a 100% refund, including the platform fee. A cancellation by you is refunded only on the table in Section 4. The security deposit is refunded in full whenever a booking is cancelled.

6. Vehicle problems

If the vehicle is not as described, is unsafe, or is unavailable at pickup, report it before starting the trip, and you will get a full refund. If the vehicle breaks down mid-trip without fault on your part, the unused rental is refunded on a pro-rata basis. The same applies if it is seized for a vehicle-compliance reason.

7. How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the original payment method within the timelines above. We never take payments in cash, and we never ask you to pay a Host directly.

8. Disputes about charges

You can raise a dispute in the app within 30 days of a charge. We will acknowledge it within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days (and within one month at most). Raising a dispute here does not affect your other legal rights.
